Jetport expansion to feature geothermal heating

In Maine, the city of Portland won a $2.5 million federal grant to install the low-emission heating system at its international jetport. Maine’s two senators, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins announced the grant award from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The jetport had broken ground earlier in the week for a major expansion. “The implementation of a new, low-emission heating system at Portland International Jetport will go a long way in not only helping to improve the overall air quality for passengers and airport employees, but also reduce the use of conventional fuels,” the two Republican senators said in a joint statement.
