High school’s new ground source system will use 55 degree ground water
In Washington, Mount Si High in the Snoqualmie Valley School District is getting a ground source new heating and cooling system. The twist is that the ground source will be the large Snoqualmie aquifer whose water is a constant 55 degrees. The system will use two wells dug behind the school, 610 and 540 feet deep. The well water will remain in a closed system and never mix with any water inside the building. The design also takes into account the body heat from the school’s 1,500 students. Each puts out about 500 BTU’s, which is on the order of 750,000 BTU’s of heat when school is in session.
