This Week in Geothermal Opinion: Innovation breeds optimism
In a wide-ranging piece on clean technologies in Canada for 2010, Tyler Hamilton of thestar.com says the decade “kicks off a decade that will witness large-scale transformation of the world’s energy sector.” On geothermal, he says “Watch for a renewed push by the power authority to finally get such projects moving. In British Columbia and Alberta, expect to see industry and politicians take the potential of geothermal power more seriously.” “Its goal is to get 5,000 megawatts of projects developed by 2015 – an ambitious target, considering Canada is the only country along the so-called Pacific ring of fire that has yet to establish a commercial geothermal power plant.”
