Geelong project gets substantial state grant
In Australia, the government of the state of Victoria will fund Greenearth Energy to the tune of just under $23 million for its Geelong geothermal project. The company will use the first $.6 million to drill a test well that it expects could reach four kilometres, in the second half of 2010. If the well drilling is successful, Greenearth will develop a 12-megawatt demonstration plant with the rest of the grant. Site work by the company shows that the area has the potential to supply more than 140 megawatts of electrical power.
